History of the Model:

Announced in October 1938 as a restyled model Ten,
but only 4-door models available after the war.
Colour choice again from 1948, and new bonnet/grille
with recessed headlamps from 1949.
Later pre-war cars have centered instruments,
so can be confused with 1945-48 models.
All the usual Ford virtues and vices.

Ford UK

History of Ford Motor Co. (UK)

Ford UK was founded in 1912 in Manchester This factory started
producing the Model T in its first years.
Until 1932 all British Fords produced were American models with
right-hand steering. In 1932 the factory transferred to Dagenham
near London, where production started on the "Y" Model (the
"father" of the Anglia and the Popular). For a while the Y Model
was the cheapest car in England and its price was 100 Pounds.
After the "Y" came the "C-Ten" that became the "Prefect". Later
the "8" Model received the name "Anglia". Many models were
produced in G.Britain, but in Israel we came to know mainly the
"Anglia" and the "Prefect" in their various types, and of course the
Consul and the Cortina. The sport model of the Ford Capri (which
started in 1961) was also a welcome model in Israel, but in
relatively small numbers by the end of the 1960's. Ford Escort came
out in 1968 and was also assembled in Israel for a few years in the
Nazereth Vehicle Production Factory.
